Get The Lead Out

Minnesotans have been advocating for lead-free tackle and ammunition for more than a decade.  There is no safe amount of lead in the environment. We’ve banned lead in paint, took it out of gasoline in 1970’s, out of plumbing fixtures but it’s still allowed in consumer products such as tackle and ammunition. Thousands of raptors, eagles, loons, swans and other diving birds die each year from lead poisoning from lead ammo and tackle. Exposure to lead can affect multiple body systems and is particularly harmful to children.  Minnesota needs to step up and prohibit the use of lead tackle and ammo.
